What is Keratin?Keratin is the type of protein that makes up our hair, skin and nails. FMK keratin is an advanced high-quality treatment that reduces frizz, unwanted curl and replenishes the hair. Our treatments can repair some existing damage, protect hair from humidity and promote hair growth.
-
Who is Keratin for?For anyone who regularly flat irons their hair, has hair that they find hard to control due to the amount of frizz and curl or hair that has been damaged. Because of the dramatic smoothing effects of Keratin, it greatly reduces styling time for most people leaving your hair healthier and shinier than ever before. Note- keratin is not designed to make the hair pin straight. Results may vary depending on hair history, hair type, texture, strength of curl and aftercare maintenance.
-
How much will my repeat treatments cost?$150 to $350 depending on length and volume of hair.
-
How do I care for my hair during the 3 day processing time?Do not wet or wash your hair for 3 days post-treatment (72 hours from when you leave the salon) as your keratin is still processing during this time. Do wear a shower cap to avoid getting your hair wet. (If your hair does get wet, blow-dry as soon as possible and iron the affected sections.) Do not use dry shampoo or any styling products other than FMK Aftercare Argan oil or Gold Serum during the 3 day processing time. Do iron your hair once a day for best results (especially during humid seasons) and avoid sweating. Do wear your hair down. Do not use pins and clips and avoid putting your hair behind your ears as much as you can. If you must tie your hair up for work or other activities, do use a thick hair tie or a scrunchy to lightly tie hair up and flat iron affected sections at the end of each day.
-
How do I care for my treatment after the 3-day processing time?IMPORTANT: We highly recommend using FMK Aftercare Shampoo and Conditioner for long lasting results as it is sulphate/paraben free and compatible with our exclusive FMK Keratin Treatment. With your first wash post-treatment, shampoo your hair three times to remove excess product. Take care when swimming in salt or chlorine water. Prior to swimming apply FMK Argan Oil or FMK Conditioner to the hair and tie hair up in a bun whilst swimming. Wet hair with fresh water prior to swimming for an extra layer of protection. After swimming we strongly recommend washing your hair with FMK Shampoo and Conditioner to eliminate salt or chlorine build up.
-
How often will I need to have it done?Every 2-4 months depending on hair type, on the number of previous treatments and the condition of the hair to start with. The great thing is that you won't have to worry about damage from repeat treatments unlike other smoothing services that are available in today’s market. Because Keratin is a natural existing protein in our hair it is good for your hair so the more treatments over time the better it is for your hair! For stubborn, curly, thick hair it is safe to have keratin treatments once a month.
-
When can I colour my hair?It is safe to colour or bleach your hair a week before or after the treatment.
-
Can I have a keratin treatment during pregnancy? We advise not to do a treatment during pregnancy.
